Dear all,

Hi,

I am once again bringing another delight for winters. It is Daal ka Halwa / Split Chickpeas dessert that is very common in our region. Let the clear, foodies have no region they love the diversity in taste. I guess you are one of them so, give it a try.

Normally, Dall Channa / Chickpeas are associate to savory dishes. Here in South Asia we love to make a savory like lentil soup along with plain steamed rice. It is called "Daal Chawal" daal means lentil while chawal is a common name for rice. Besides it, Chickpea is also mixed with other lentils and it gives a good compliment and taste to them.

Haleem is also a mixture where split chick peas is used to make a paste of lentils, rice, wheat and meat with various spices. It is one of the most popular dish in South Asia with different names and twists. Mostly, Haleem is prepared for festivals but it is also a favorite street food.

Well, when we talk about the dessert, it has a unique flavor. It is a very delicious and healthy dish as a side. Halwajaat are very favorite dishes in winters. People like to add clarified butter / desi ghee in good quantity while usage of dry nuts is also compulsory in these Halwas. It is a way to attract and introduce young ones with dry nuts and other healthy or traditional edible items like Maghaz(Watermelon seeds) alongwith many Ayurvedic herbs/items.

Give it a try,

Bon Appetite!

Thanks and regards,

Food Lover
